If you have been told to make a list of what you lost and what you paid for it. That works in the insurance companies favor not yours. What you paid has nothing to do with what you are owed for it. What if it was a gift or you got something at a thrift store?? You are still owed the cost to replace it.

If you have moved in temporarily with family or friends and insurance company just paying nominal rent or nothing at all,.... most policies allow for much more to be paid to put you in a similar situation you were in pre loss.

Has the insurance company sent their adjuster or estimator out to measure your home?? Why didn't you do that, the burden of proof is on you per policy language? Is the estimator paid by you or insurance company they sent out?? Whose interest do you think they are looking out for??

Why is a restoration company packing up old electronics and t shirts that are worn out to be cleaned or restored?? Your policy will pay you the money personally to replace them or the cleaning cost. You don't need to pay 10s of thousands of dollars to restore stuff in your home you would not replace any way. Wouldn't you rather have the money to buy new?

A lot of times insurance companies don't tell you there is money to tear the home down. They lump that in with the whole estimate. They then will hide behind an estimating software like its the law. That is not the case.

Often over looked, Landscaping, decks, adjacent buildings, and flower beds insurance companies wont tell you there is money in the policy to replace or repair those things if damaged from event or by excavation companies tearing the
home down.
